What bitcoin gave us essentially? Huge pump and dump schemes coordinated by big hands? Crypto investments which made 95% of investors poorer? What's left?
Maybe 0.01% of it was beneficial.
You can verify yourself using company email address - maybe I am being naive to think that it’s much safer, but it’s way better than handing over your ID data.
I never understand why people supply too much info about themselves for small gains.
People at LinkedIn wants you to believe that your career is safe if you play by their games, but ironically they are one of the main reasons why companies nowadays are comfortable with hiring and firing fast.
> You can verify yourself using company email address
LinkedIn does not support smaller companies; it appears to rely on some kind of whitelist or known-enterprise system. This option is simply not available for at least 90% of users.
Remish was truly amazing.Even if you were not into music or guitars you must have known him if you were born in Azerbaijan.
He was a guitar hero. R.I.P.
> This means that a malicious attacker on your network, or a nation state that has access to your ISP can easily perform a MITM attack and replace the network response with any malicious executable of their choosing.
I am pretty sure, a nation state wanting to hack an individual's system has way more effective tools at their disposal.
I am pretty sure nation states hire people smart enough to use whatever works.
What the hell is more effective than getting root with a trivial MITM?
Not only is it effective, it's stealthy, in that it doesn't out you. It's obviously possible to both find and exploit it without a huge investment, which means nobody knows you're a nation state when you use it. You don't have to risk burning any really arcane zero-days or any hard to replace back doors.
Nation states are absolutely going to use things like that. And so is everybody else.
...such as talking directly to AMD or even Microsoft, which is scarier as Windows Updates are signed, and as long as they can be convinced to sign the right thing, it'll look even more legit.
- Senior Engineers now often is sufficient for most tasks, Junior Engineers seems like a burden rather than a boost during development process
- Companies feel comfortable with hiring fast and firing fast
- Tech Market is now flooded with not-so-good engineers having good experience with good AI coding assistants - which already are capable of solving 80% of the problems - they are ready to work for much less than really experienced engineers
In general, yes, companies overhired many software developers, hoping they will continue hyper growing, but then reality has kicked in - this was not sustainable for most businesses.
Microsoft had a chance make even better OS than XP and 7 and convince millions of users to use Windows.
Okay maybe with Office products the ocean was already red, but still, instead of disgusting its millions of users, they could make them happy.
I am not a firm believer that GNU/Linux distributions are a drop-in replacement for Windows. One can work around compatibility issues, but for non–tech-savvy people, it's just not feasible.
I switched to MacOS since the release of Windows 10 and never looked back, of course I did miss some apps, though using laggy windows was much more painful.
Glad that I removed my SoundCloud account right on time.
I think it’s only a matter of time before a service gets breached.
It's best to use unique random username, email, and password for every online account.
Also, providing only the bare minimum of data and faking as much as possible is helpful in cases of data breaches.
Since when Cloudflare started to fight for Open Internet? Thanks to them last year we weren’t able to visit many websites. If that’s how they perceive openness, they have to think twice.
