I get that this idea is appealing because it's quirky and counter-intuitive, and self-deprecating as well as self-aggrandizing.

But it's not true, obviously. Truly "lazy" people (i. e. those suffering from depression) will be trying to hack their motivation and beating themselves up over repeatedly failing. It's something that comes up in an Ask HR at least every two months.

Impatience & hubris are what gets "tech bros" the reputation of shallow arrogance. These traits optimize for Uber-like outcomes, in both scale and completely lack of decency. But going for the 1-in-100000 outcome is rarely a good personal strategy, and some marginal improvement doesn't change that.
