> Wordsmithing is annoying and not really productive work
True in the context of sitting at a desk and writing. But during a quickfire conversation, I find it incredibly satisfying talking to someone who crafts vivid imagery and uses wicked turns of phrase. I wonder how much LLMs like ChatGPT et al will help or hinder our ability to wordsmith in realtime. Will there be a measurable "ChatGPT" effect on literacy skills in 20 years time, I wonder.
At the very least, it might teach more people the value of being skeptical (since ChatGPT is often wrong), and we'll see a reduction in the number of people falling for stupid internet scams and conspiracy theories.
Students will have to focus on the innovative ideas and concepts. Wordsmithing is annoying and not really productive work. A machine should to it.
Sure teachers have to adapt and redesign courses.
